October 8, 2015 12:00pm eastern
Presented by: Dr. Jessica Bian, Staff Engineer, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
This webinar will provide an overview of US federal regulation of public utilities. This includes presentations on how the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is organized, what FERC regulates, and when/how FERC acts with the best interests of the customer in mind, including rate revision/challenge process and some FERC orders of interest.
Dr. Bian is a visionary leader and architect. She has spearheaded industry's reliability metrics and risk assessment programs. She is currently with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Prior to FERC, she was the Director of Performance Analysis at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). Under her leadership, 18 industry-wide reliability indicators and three composite indices were established first time to determine the reliability of the North American bulk power system.
Before joining NERC, Dr. Bian was with PJM Interconnection and ERCOT, responsible for real-time operations support. She started her career at Westinghouse Electric; was involved in generator design and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) applications.
