IEEE PES Partnership with National Energy Secretariat of Republic of Panama

Piscataway, N.J. – IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) and National Energy Secretariat of the Republic of Panama entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to leverage the knowledge and expertise of both entities to educate their constitMOU National Energy Secretariat Panama Social Instagramuents of the latest technologies and advancements to help develop the energy sector policies directly affecting Panama.

‘For PES this is one of our key opportunities to fulfill IEEE’s major objectives to disseminate knowledge and information to members and society in general. Also, this agreement will open the doors for other important companies and organizations not only in Panama but also in Latin America.’ echoes Enrique Tejera, PES liaison to National Energy Secretariat of the Republic of Panama.

The MOU was officially signed into order by Tim Licitra, PES Executive Director, and Dr. Jorge Rivera, National Energy Secretary at The National Energy Secretariat of the Republic of Panama. As our newest  Government Agency MOU partner, The National Energy Secretariat of the Republic of Panama will work together with PES to achieve the goals of improving, guiding, innovating, and promoting the development of technology and standards.

As a formal agreement, the MOU helps align the two organizations' efforts in conducting standards workshops, seminars on power and energy fields of interest; engage in the technical committees, encourage individuals to contribute articles, participate in the editorial, and review processes for IEEE PES publications magazines, newsletter, and other opportunities. The MOU outlines objectives for the two organizations in collaborative  activities, including:

  • Joint Workshops
  • Resource Sharing
  • Educational Opportunities
  • Encouraging National Energy of Secretariat of the Republic of Panama Employees to Join IEEE PES
  • Awards and Humanitarian Activities

National Energy of Secretariat of the Republic of Panama and IEEE recognizes the importance of establishing and strengthening their relationship and both parties wish to foster closer cooperation resulting in the development of a long-term, peer-to-peer relationship for their mutual benefit.
