In Memoriam Frank Lambert
Frank Lambert (1951 - 2021)
The IEEE Power & Energy Society is extremely saddened to announce the passing of Frank Lambert, 2020/2021 PES President on July 27.
Frank was always available with a smile and a desire to help. He took great pride in helping others - he took many trips to Haiti with the PES Georgia Tech PES Student Branch Chapter volunteers to design & install a PV system for a new medical center being built off-grid in the mountains in Thoman. The group also teamed with the Georgia Haitian American Chamber of Commerce to identify 16 local Haitians for training in PV systems and business practices. They conducted training and delivered 25 hut-level PV systems to local residents. The work has continued to optimize the hut PV system and also to install several other PV systems in three schools and two churches.
As a true southern gentleman, Frank will be remembered for his warm greetings, inviting demeanor, and satisfying his sweet tooth during his nightly treat of coca-cola and ice cream. He grew up in Georgia and graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he met his wife his senior year. They were married following graduation and had a daughter and 2 sons. He went on to work at Georgia Power Company for over 20 years and was the Principal Research Engineer at Georgia Tech/NEETRA for over 25 years.
Frank's interview from March 2020 is available in a past eNews Update as part of the Humans of PES series. The IEEE Power & Energy Society expresses its condolences to family and many friends around the world.
Condolences can be sent via this google form or posted on the tribute wall from the funeral home noted below.
