This Webinar:
Will introduce distribution level synchrophasor monitoring and how it could help with real time situational awareness.
Synchrophasor-based wide-area power system monitoring systems are being increasingly deployed in power grids worldwide. The high-resolution timesynchronized phasor measurements can help with understanding, forecasting, or even controlling the power grid in real-time. Various "measurement-based" applications has been spawn for power system situation awareness, operation, and control. This developing technology holds the potential to help grid operators interpret the status of power grid operation, take proactive measures to prevent blackouts, and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources.
Some fascinating observations, such as interconnection-level electromechanical wave propagation, regional blackout, and super bowl grid frequency swings, will be demonstrated using measurement data collected from the actual U.S. grids.
Power company practicing engineers and executives, government regulators, academia, researchers, students will find this webinar of interest.
