PES Careers Information for Students

PES-Careers is for students at Canadian and U.S. universities or engineering technology schools who are pursuing a power engineering career. This on-line service helps students connect with employers offering full-time and part-time job opportunities as well as internships.

Students can choose the approach to using PES-Careers that fits their preferences. There are two basic approaches.

  • Searcher. With this approach, students use PES-Careers to search for job opportunities by looking at employer profiles and reviewing job postings. They can have notices of job postings emailed to them based on selected criteria. They can even apply for jobs through PES-Careers if they have uploaded their resumes.
  • Find Me. If students choose to allow employer viewing of their profiles and resumes, then employers can find them using the PES-Careers' search engine. Using PES-Careers' email system, employers can contact students to ask them to apply for a job or internship.

The Searcher approach is automatically available for every student user of PES-Careers whereas the Find Me approach is optional. More information is available on how PES-Careers works.

PES-Careers is a free service from IEEE PES. While in school, students are encouraged to become student members of IEEE PES, to get involved in local PES chapters, and to use IEEE PES services. Students should consider maintaining that professional membership when they graduate.

Student Eligibility

To use PES-Careers, students must have full-time or part-time status at a university or engineering technology school in the U.S. or Canada. A student can continue using PES-Careers until one year after graduation. Eligible students are studying for Associate's, Bachelor's or Graduate (Master's or Doctoral) degrees. In completing their profiles, students using PES-Careers will select from the following characteristics:
