New Pages and Updates As part of the PES Executive Office's (EO) service to members and volunteers, appropriate pages may be posted on the PES web site (a partition of the IEEE domain), or if posted elsewhere, an active link can be provided from the PES page to the remote page. If your entity is a PES committee or Chapter, you may have the option of posting your pages on the IEEE Entity Web Hosting site (EWH). More information about EWH follows below. Criteria:
In order for the EO to provide a link to a remote page (including pages posted on EWH), that page: - must be owned by a PES entity, or be of significant use or interest to PES members
- must be non-commercial, even if it is owned by a not-for profit enterprise
In order to be posted on the PES Web site, a page:
- must meet the criteria above
- the pages must be provided in standard HTML or PDF to the EO.
(Though no specific format is required, the IEEE provides a useful Web page Style Guide at http://www.ieee.org/style for Web page authors familiar with HTML or HTML editing software.) Additionally:
- Page titles, PES (and IEEE) entity names and other terms must be used correctly in both posted and linked pages. (Please see examples below). Authors will be asked to modify any incorrect or misleading titles or terms before the page is posted or link is provided.
- Pages with graphic files which are submitted for posting should be coded with relative addresses for the graphics.
Submittals
- Pages for posting may be transmitted to the EO via e-mail, on floppy or Zip diskettes. Additionally, a PES FTP site is available where you may place your files: ftp.ieee.org; directory: uploads/tab/pes; sign-on: anonymous.
You will not see the "pes" directory listed, but have faith, change to it anyway, and upload your files. If you notify us the files have been FTPd, we will confirm that they have been picked up. (Note: Files are removed from this site after 48 hours, so it is important that you coordinate the FTPing of your files with the EO prior to sending the files.) - Please inform the EO of your intent to submit a page for posting or request for a link at least two weeks prior to the submission. Be sure to provide your contact information.
Posting
- All appropriate pages will be posted and links provided as soon as is feasible, but it is impossible to provide a specific time frame. Be sure to allow plenty of lead time when submitting a time-sensitive item.
Updates
- All updates are the responsibility of the page owner. If a posted page requires some minor tweaking (such as an address change), generally the corrections can be done by the EO. If extensive changes are needed, the page will have to be re-submitted with the changes incorporated. As noted above, please allow plenty of time for posting when submitting a change.
Regarding IEEE Entity Web Hosting:
If you know that your page will have frequent changes that you want to post immediately, and, if you have the ability to FTP your files and act as your own webmaster, in most cases the IEEE can offer your Chapter or Committee its own web site through IEEE Entity Web Hosting. Once your pages are posted on the EWH site, we will create a link from the appropriate PES page to your home page. Please visit the EWH site for more information. Contact information

- If you use acronyms or organization-specific abbreviations, spell the wording out in full once on each page.
- Provide a short introduction or explanation on the home page so people know what the site or page is about.
- Consider registering your page (for free) with various Web search engines. (http://www.addme.com and http:/www.submitit.com are two sites which allow you to list your page with multiple search engines using only one form)
When designing or writing your entity's page, consider making the following elements available to your audience (along with any other items serve your purpose):
