The Future of Power Transmission

Abstract

Though the Smart Grid has basically focused on distribution, the authors remind us that while changes to the distribution system will be revolutionary, there will also have to be evolutionary changes to the transmission system. The article cites the implementation of integrated communications as the key technology area for transmission enhancement, and their necessity to insure that tomorrow’s grid is indeed “smart.”
