Election of PES Officers

Later this year the voting membership of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) will have the opportunity to elect our future leadership. The offices of president-elect, secretary, and treasurer for the period 2010–2011 will be decided. Two candidates, nominated by the PES Nominations and Appointments Committee, chaired by past President John McDonald, and approved by the Governing Board, are contesting each office. Their photos, bios, and candidate statements are available.    The successful candidates will serve for the period 2010–2011.

Voting members of the Power & Energy Society may, by petition, propose names to be added to the ballot for these offices. Details for this procedure and qualifications for proposed candidates may be found in the PES Bylaws. To be eligible for nomination to the office of president-elect, the nominee shall have served as a member of the PES Governing Board in some capacity for at least two years. More information is available.

Further details will follow in ensuing e-Newsletters and in IEEE Power & Energy Magazine.

125th Anniversary
Celebration events commemorating the joint 125th anniversaries of IEEE and PES will take place throughout this year. Further news will be posted as received. President Wanda Reder provided an overview of the year’s activities in the Leader’s Corner column in the January 2009 issue of Power & Energy Magazine. For reference, that column is posted.
