P&E Magazine - January/February 2010
"In My View" Column
The January/February P&E Magazine In My View column is Perfecting Power-in search of a secure, sustainable future by Robert Galvin and Kurt Yeager. This column summarizes the purpose of the nonprofit, public interest Galvin Electricity Initiative that is committed to the transformation of the business model for electricity service. This Initiative, launched in 2005, is motivated by the conviction that the vitality of the United States is fundamentally threatened by an electricity system that has been not changed in decades. Among the recommendations of the Initiative is the evolution of Perfect Power distribution microgrids, which feature smart electronic monitoring and control technologies that instantaneously identify and isolate faults so customers and businesses no longer have to accept power outages as a way of life.

We also welcome In My View column contributions from our readers and anyone interested in accepting this offer may contact me for details molken@ieee.org.
