New Web site Launch

On behalf of the Web Site Development Committee, welcome to the new IEEE PES Web site!

The site preserves much of the same content that you have come rely on, but offers a fresh look and feel that is more focused on the needs of our members and other electric power and energy professionals. We also added new features such as an interactive calendar, search capability, and soon, e-commerce functionality.

The content of the site is categorized into seven broad categories, reflecting the value propositions and organizational structure of the Society. Managing each category is a volunteer webmaster that will ensure that the Web site remains up-to-date. These volunteers are:

  • Technical Committees: MICK MAYTUM
  • Meetings & Conferences: JOHN PASERBA and PETE SAUER
  • Education: LEONARD BOHMAN
  • Publications: JIE LI
  • Chapters: MAZANA ARMSTRONG
  • Membership: HENRY LOUIE
  • Outreach: MANISA PIPATTANASOMPORN

Since we designed this site for you, our members and visitors, we want to know what you think.

Simply e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to tell us what we did right and what we can do better. As we respond to the feedback, changes to the web site may occur. Please be patient with us as work toward making any improvements.

Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to all of the Web Site Development Committee members, volunteers and staff members that have made this launch a success, in particular: Susan Sacks, Pat Ryan, Wanda Reder, Barry LeCerf and Edina Bajrektarevic.

-Henry Louie
Chair, Web Site Development Committee

Facing New Challenges

It is apparent that we, the electric power industry, are facing a new and challenging paradigm dictated primarily by environmental and social parameters. Climate change and carbon footprint drive the environmental side, while the social aspects include the needs of an ever-increasing population that conflict with expansion of the required electric supply to sustain that growth...
