Call for Participation - New PES Technical Committee - SBLCS

Smart Buildings, Loads and Customer Systems (SBLCS) Technical Committee

Introduction

The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) invites all interested parties to notify us if they wish to contribute to the newly formed IEEE PES Smart Buildings, Loads and Customer Systems Technical Committee.

Scope and Purpose

The perspective of the scope of the committee is three-fold: (1) treatment of techniques and requirements for interfaces between consumer-side and grid planning and dispatch operations, and (2) treatment of the onsite power and energy aspect itself, in terms of functions and performance management, and (3) treatment of the methods and communication integration with energy service provider business systems to support these customer-side resources and services.

Desired Outcomes

Reorganization of the PES Committee structure was approved in January 2016 by the PES Governing Board held in Memphis, Tennessee.  The careful process of developing and crafting standards and requirements will now begin for one of the fastest growing areas of interest in the smart grid space.  It is a primary goal of the Committee to develop a standard for transactive energy communications and system interaction in collaboration with the IEEE PES Operations and Planning Technical Committees and the Intelligent Grid Coordinating Committee.

Types of Participants

Stakeholders are welcome from any organization or individual with interest in this space.
